Timothy Zulewski grew up near Detroit, Michigan in the 70's and 80's. As a child, he gravitated towards drawing subject matter like dinosaurs, movie monsters and Spider-Man. He did, in fact, dress up as Spider-Man for several Halloweens to ensnare as much candy as he could from the friendly neighborhood. He spent many Saturdays watching Sir Graves Ghastly, a local Detroit television host, who played old monster movies. During commercial breaks Tim would conjure up some of his own creepy creations on paper as the movies fueled his young imagination.

As Tim grew older, he discovered artists like Edward Gorey, Arthur Rackham and Tim Burton, who had a profound effect on his evolving style. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design from Western Michigan University with a minor in Art. However, Tim’s love of Halloween drove him to illustrate whimsical jack o'lanterns and other quirky Halloween creations rather than follow the path of industrial design.

In 1999, Tim started his freelance business, CricketBow Design, which allowed him to integrate his illustration work with graphic and web design for a variety of clients over the years. For illustrations, he works mostly traditionally in pen and ink and then paints his works with either watercolor or digitally. He also enjoys sculpting using polymer clay. Tim has illustrated several book covers, a children’s book, and participates in several art shows around the Detroit area every year.
